Pasha Malla, "There Is Good in the World"
It's December 11. Pasha Malla, author of People Park and Erratic Fire, Erratic Passion, always keeps the defence honest.
How would you describe your story?
PASHA MALLA: Sorcery.
When did you write it, and how did the writing process compare to your other work?
PM: A while ago. // The same—but also? Different.
What, for you, are the essential elements of a good short story?
PM: Bacon, grapes and animals made of paper.
Did this story require any research? If so, what?
PM: I combed the archives. I combed my hair. In the end it seemed best to let the dog do most of the typing.
Where can people go to learn more about you and your work?
PM: Find a snapdragon in half-bloom. Lean down and listen. But watch your ear! Those things can take off a lobe lickety-split.
What's on your Christmas list this year?
PM: Grenades.
