Same great holiday tradition, none of the stale, dusty chocolate.
The first Short Story Advent Calendar did what it said on the tin, providing readers with a series of individually sealed booklets that were opened, one by one, on the mornings leading up to Christmas.
Like a bookish Whitman's Sampler, the calendar contained a range of styles, formats, and authors from across North America—from household names to up-and-coming talents. In all, more than 500 pages of minty-fresh literature.
The 2015 SSAC was available in a one-time print run, and sold exclusively through the H&O website. To heighten the mystery, each booklet was sealed, with no identifying information on the cover, save for a number and a cryptic-yet-enticing visual element.
Throughout December, we published Q&As with each day's author (the living ones, anyway), which have been faithfully reproduced below.
